THE COST OF LIFE IS EXILE. A vicious Xaela warrior hailing from the Dotharl tribe, nestled within the Azim Steppe. In line with traditional Dotharl beliefs, she holds that death is not to be feared. To die in battle is to be reincarnated, your soul returning to fight anew. Despite Xerzha's eagerness to wage war, she was unable to attain a worthy death, and was cast out from the Dotharl and deemed a coward. Her future lies in Eorzea - where she struggles to belong.

Xerha was a capable warrior on the Steppe. Her tribe, the Dotharl, were feared - and respected - for their martial prowess, breeding fearless warriors who did not fear death; for with death came rebirth. The Xaela regularly battled for dominance, vying to take the crown as the reigning tribe and ascending to the Dawn Throne. The Dotharl's ferocity allowed them to contend with the dominant Oronir, but their numbers dwindled. Their thirst for death kept their numbers low.
Her final year of war came with her expulsion. She had gone too long without attaining reincarnation. Death did not claim her - and as such, the Dotharl found her unworthy. She was banished from the tribe, and rejected by the Azim Steppe; in spite of her reputation and ferocity, the standing Dotharli elders deemed her a coward. She traveled west, leaving Othard in search of new meaning. A new steppe.
She arrived on the western continent, and traveled inland. Where she expected to find grasslands, she instead found snow; the blasted tundra of Coerthas, realm of Ishgard. With this, the Xaela was swept into the state of Eorzean affairs - and caught in the Dragonsong War.
Skewer the Dragon
Clip Her wings, Then SNAP HER BEAK
It had been held as a belief for some time, without proof, that Au Ra were the descendants of Dragons. This was something Xerzha always held to be true; in her scales, her horns, her claws, there was Dragon's blood. It made her strong.Fitting, then, that she came to the land where Dragons and men fought. The Holy See had persecuted her kind, hating them for their perceived heritage.Xerzha would not have it.Bearing witness to the deaths of Dragons and their Dravanian kin, as well as the unsanctioned slaughtering of the Orl tribe at the hands of the Holy See, Xerzha struck out at the Ishgardian Temple Knights in reprisal for their crimes, seeking to settle the blood debt. She would not stand by and tolerate the murderous whims of religious sycophants. This was a war worth waging. She earned the moniker of the Black Dragon of Coerthas; a nickname given by Knights who had survived their encounters with her. She was an independantly operating menace, seeking to bolster Dravanian forces wherever she was present and bring death upon the Holy See.
At the end of the war, she was granted clemency by the reformed Ishgardian government. Her battle against the Temple Knights was in defiance to prejudice, and the wounds of the Dragonsong had to be allowed to heal. Though -- Ishgard did not forget her face. She slipped away into obscurity, and fell into a mercenary's life. When all you know is battle, there is no other way.

Things for you to Consider
Geography
Xerzha is not limited to any particular region. her calling allows her to seek out employment - and gratification - in every corner of Eorzea, othard, and the far east.NOTE
I (The writer) am a huge fan of opposites attracting. Your character doesn't have to be anything like her for the dynamic to be interesting!Another Thing
If your character has any motivation to attempt to kill Xerzha - that is 100% something that can be played out. a key theme in her story is one where death avoids her, despite having no fear of it. something has to beat her in battle one day, and fighting is her trade.ishgardians are welcome to fight her, naturally. dragonsong beef is more than welcome.
Xerzha is aggressive, antisocial, and more than a tad egotistical. Her Dotharl blood makes it hard for her to make friends, coming from a society that valued bloodshed over most other things. She still holds to the belief that she's of Dragon blood, and is more than a little proud of it. More than anything else, she's proud of the fact that she's hard to kill. In defiance to having been exiled as a coward, she seeks to carve a new reputation of her own in Eorzea; the Dotharl who was the hardest to kill.In spite of this, companionship is something that she would appreciate, even if she has trouble doing so. She gravitates towards fellow warriors, and has a hard time relating to people who don't appreciate the art of battle the way that she does. She's trying to her best. You can contact me on discord at .mistywinds. with any and all questions!
